Scientists and doctors in Ostrava are developing a tool that could shorten colon cancer operations and reduce patients’ risk of complications.
Using artificial intelligence and a supercomputer, a 3D model of the blood vessels is created so that doctors can see where the arteries and veins in the abdominal cavity run before the procedure. Experts from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (FEI), the National Supercomputing Centre IT4Innovations of the Technical University of Ostrava and the University Hospital Ostrava are collaborating on the development within the LERCO project.
