Ostrava, 18 November 2025 – The international construction group HSF System, which is part of the PURPOSIA Group holding, has long viewed ESG principles as a natural part of its business. In 2024, it took further steps to reduce its environmental impact, refined the calculation of its carbon footprint and expanded measures in the areas of energy efficiency and circular construction.
In the Czech Republic, HSF System’s carbon footprint was 164.58 tCO₂ per employee. Sister company HSF System SK, which analysed the data for the first time, reported a value of 177.09 tCO₂ per employee. The calculation was performed by Green0meter and CSOB Advisory according to the international GHG Protocol standard. “In our view, we need to create legislation that motivates investors and construction companies to adopt more sustainable solutions and reduce the carbon footprint of buildings throughout their life cycle, not just during operation. It is also important to establish clear methodologies for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of buildings and to set up a support system for projects that apply these principles in practice,” says Petra Cichoňová, ESG Manager at HSF System Construction Group.
In 2024, the HSF System Construction Group focused on improving the collection and structuring of ESG data, leading to better ESG reporting. Significant steps in reducing emissions included the installation of a photovoltaic power plant at the Ostrava headquarters and the acquisition of the first electric vehicles for the company’s fleet. The Group also established closer cooperation with its waste processor to optimise processes and minimise waste. As part of strengthening responsibility in the supply chain, HSF System Group has introduced a Supplier Code of Conduct. “We strive to make our business sustainable in the long term. We do this not because we have to, but because it makes sense to us. We report ESG voluntarily, the photovoltaic plant on the roof of our headquarters in Ostrava already covers a third of our consumption, we are exploring circular principles in construction, reducing our carbon footprint and looking for other ways to build with less environmental impact,” says Tomáš Kosa, director of the HSF System construction group.
As a general building contractor, HSF System takes sustainability principles into account in all phases of a building’s life cycle. In the design phase, the focus is on efficient structural design and optimal use of materials. Thanks to digitalisation, it is able to plan more accurately and thus reduce excess material and waste. The Group also sees great potential in modular construction and prefabrication, which streamline the construction process and reduce its environmental impact. “We are also actively involved in industry initiatives. We are a member of an expert group in the Association of Building Entrepreneurs in which we are involved in the development of ESG methodology in the construction industry,” adds Petra Cichoňová, who will also become an ambassador of the #BuildingLife campaign under the auspices of the Czech Green Building Council, of which HSF System is also a part
HSF System’s Construction Group is collaborating on the development of 3D concrete printing. With VŠB – Technical University Ostrava, it monitored the tension of seamless floors, which contribute to more sustainable construction. A research project on energy efficiency in buildings was conducted at the University of Žilina. For 2025, the HSF System construction group was awarded the Best Managed Companies award from Deloitte for the best managed companies in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
