The first quantum computer in the Czech Republic will be installed this year in Ostrava. A unique field of study will also be created

Ostrava is preparing a big novelty in the whole Czech Republic. The University of Mining and Metallurgy – Technical University of Ostrava (VŠB-TUO) will be the first in the country to open a study course focused on quantum informatics. The unique field of study may come into being thanks to the fact that the National Supercomputing Centre IT4Innovations, which is part of the VŠB, will install the first Czech quantum computer here this year at a cost of about CZK 125 million.
