Importance for the region
The mission of the European Digital Innovation Hub Ostrava (EDIH Ostrava) is to support the introduction and use of advanced digital technologies in companies and society. EDIH Ostrava offers its services on highly discounted subsidised terms or free of charge.
EDIH Ostrava is gradually developing a network of cooperating partners – start-ups, technology companies, clusters, other domestic and foreign digital innovation hubs or other organizations.
- The first concerns the possibility to use the specific know-how and infrastructure of EDIH Ostrava with the aim of “Test before invest”. This means to examine the potential of advanced digital technologies to solve specific needs and tasks of a company or public organization. In terms of technological specialization, these are the areas of high-performance computing (HPC), advanced data analysis (HPDA), artificial intelligence (AI) and digitized production and transport. This will be supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure in the form of supercomputing technologies and an experimental testbed built on Industry 4.0 principles.
- The second category of activities is promoting digital readiness and skills development. Companies often need to identify their digital needs and opportunities at the outset. A digital audit or expert support can help them with this, depending on the identified need. EDIH Ostrava also focuses on the preparation and implementation of specifically oriented training courses in its areas of specialization (e.g. structural analysis and optimization, or the use of artificial intelligence).
- The third category of activities is support for sharing experiences and further development of companies (including start-ups).
