POHO Park Gabriela
One of the flagship projects that aims to create a dignified centre of the mountain landscape, offering facilities not only for visitors to the Gabriela mine but also to the adjacent church of St Peter of Alcantara. The existing buildings of the former mine site will be revitalised and a new tourist information centre will be built to provide year-round facilities for visitors. It will also include a brand new interactive exhibition of the old mining town of Karviná, dedicated to the stories of people who were affected by coal mining in Karviná. In addition to the exhibition on the life of miners and coal mining, the renovated cultural monument will offer a representative space for conferences, workshops, festivals and other various events. The project is financed with the financial support of the Moravian-Silesian Region and funds from the Operational Programme Just Transformation.
