Professor Ivan Zelinka works at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of VŠB – TUO and at the national supercomputer centre IT4Innovations. His research focuses on advanced areas such as evolutionary algorithms, artificial intelligence, quantum algorithms and cyber security. In the field of cybersecurity, he trains the next generation of experts and develops methods to protect systems and data from cyber threats. His work has a direct practical impact on the security of companies, institutions and citizens.

In a list compiled by Stanford University, he was ranked in the top 2% of the world’s most cited scientists in the field of artificial intelligence.

Research, projects, activities

Ivan Zelinka is the author or co-author of more than 315 scientific publications, his works are widely cited. He is a prominent expert in the field of cyber security, and is the guarantor of the follow-up Master’s degree programme “Information and Communication Security”, which focuses on topics such as computer malware, hacking, penetration testing, and protection of computer systems, all in combination with artificial intelligence.

In addition to his academic activities, he is actively involved in the popularization of cyber security. He also worked on the Czech Television educational series “Don’t Try This”, which highlights the risks of the digital world, including deepfake videos and the misuse of artificial intelligence.

Professor Ivan Zelinka’s work has had a key impact in several strategic areas – from industry to national security. In the field of artificial intelligence and evolutionary algorithms, he contributes to the development of intelligent systems that increase industrial efficiency, promote innovation and open new business opportunities in the Moravian-Silesian region. His research in the field of quantum algorithms lays the foundations for future breakthroughs in technology with the potential to solve problems unattainable for classical computers. This strengthens the prestige of VŠB-TUO and IT4Innovations as centres of excellence in research.
