He is an internationally renowned professor of astrophysics and theoretical physics, long-time dean and head of the Centre for Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics at the Silesian University in Opava. In addition to his scientific work, including research on black holes, dark energy and alternative theories of gravity, he has been intensively involved in artistic photography since 2002. His work combines rational science with emotional art and is characterized by an emphasis on harmony, symbolism and cosmological themes. From the realistic images of his early days, he has moved on to more abstract forms that use blur, contrast and minimalism and that emphasize a transcendental and meditative plane. He has presented his photographs in dozens of exhibitions at home and abroad, published catalogues and a book monograph, Searching for Context (2007).
