Steel production

The largest steel producer in the Czech Republic approaches steel production with maximum emphasis on sustainable development. The rich tradition of industrial metallurgical production in Třinec dates back to the first half of the 19th century. The first blast furnace was lit on 1 April 1839. Since then, Třinec Ironworks has built a stable position on the market for steel and other metallurgical products with exports to many countries around the world. In 1996, the Moravia Steel joint stock company became the majority owner of TŽ, which ensures the purchase of raw materials and other materials for production, sales of products to the domestic market and abroad, as well as international transport. The Třinecké železárny Group and Moravia Steel continuously continue to modernise technologies and develop a product portfolio with higher added value. At the same time, it is preparing with full responsibility for low-carbon steel production in a sustainable manner, with the aim of actively contributing to environmental protection.

During its existence, the mill has produced almost 190 million tonnes of steel and rolled products, which have long been used all over the world.
