Areas of strength on which the region is targeting.
The Moravian-Silesian Region will be associated with entrepreneurship and innovation, higher education and employment, a cleaner and greener environment, communities and cohesion, better connectivity and smart technologies, and last but not least, attractiveness and rich culture.
Ostrava is a self-confident European city, which is proud of its industrial tradition, attracts young talent, develops and uses innovative technologies, and above all grows thanks to the energy of active people, because it offers a high quality of life for all generations.
These are the visions of both the Moravian-Silesian Region and the City of Ostrava. Therefore, 6 change areas with their own objectives have been defined to support the implementation of the strategic documents.
We encourage the courage to start and the desire to grow.
We support the development of the business environment and motivate more people to own their own business – talent across generations. The aim is to make it easier to start a business and to create conditions for the creation of new companies, including startups with innovative potential.
We pay great attention to small and medium-sized enterprises
Small and medium-sized enterprises are absolutely vital to the regional economy, so we must actively support their growth, help them to innovate and contribute to adapting to the ever-emerging challenges in business.
We attract talent
The quality and prestige of educational institutions, especially universities, which are an important condition for the development of the region and one of the key factors in increasing the competence of human resources, universities are trying to increase by attracting foreign highly-cited researchers, as well as by preparing strategic projects.
The future is created where universities and research meet companies
The aim is to facilitate the transfer of research results into practice and to set up a sustainable model of cooperation that will lead to an increase in the volume of contract research.
We support cooperation
The T-Park upgrade project consists of the gradual construction of six new buildings that will be part of the existing technology park operated by MSIC. Technology companies and start-ups are looking for added value of innovation ecosystem services, which are closely linked to the T-Park’s capacities.
Improving the image of the region and strengthening the reputation of MSK as an ideal place for business, innovation or research
The need to strengthen the marketing and communication of the innovation ecosystem of the Moravian-Silesian Region is interwoven throughout the regional strategic documents. These include, for example, the Strategy for the Development of the Moravian-Silesian Region 2019-2027, which identifies the need to improve the image of the MSK, including with regard to attracting active people, talent and workforce to the region, and the need to strengthen marketing and engagement with regional partners in relation to the attractiveness of the region’s universities and the strategic goal of increasing the proportion of the region’s population with higher education.
