RIS MSK
Fulfilling the strategy

The Moravian-Silesian Region is proud of its diversity. This applies not only to its natural or cultural wealth, but also to the key fields in which it develops. The process of dynamic development is effectively supported by the Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS MSK). The RIS MSK 2021-2027 forms an annex to the “#hrajemskrajem – Strategy for the Development of the Moravian-Silesian Region 2019-2027” (SRK MSK). The objectives of the RIS MSK specify priority changes in the two horizontal areas of the SRK MSK “A more entrepreneurial and innovative region” and “A more educated and employed region” and in the two horizontal areas of the FAJNOVA strategic plan “To improve the environment for business development” and “To be a centre of first-class education”.

The management and implementation of the RIS MSK takes place on two levels:

Strategic
Management

Strategic management is provided by the Innovation Council (RpI). It discusses the vision, strategy targeting and proposed projects that are prepared within the individual working groups of the RIS MSK and selects key strategic projects for implementation.

The Innovation Council has 9 members, who are:

Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region or the deputy responsible for regional development,

Mayor of the Statutory City of Ostrava or the deputy responsible for education, innovation and digitalisation,

3 rectors – Rector of the Mining University – Technical University of Ostrava, Rector of the University of Ostrava, Rector of the Silesian University in Opava,

4 company representatives operating in key domains of the region’s specialisation: mobility, information technology, metal production and processing, medical devices.

The selection of company representatives is done in such a way that the perspectives of both large companies and young technology scaleups are represented.

Executive
Management

The executive management of the strategy is entrusted to the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre Ostrava, a.s. (MSIC), which coordinates its implementation and the implementation of selected activities, including the activities of working groups that enable members to obtain information, view challenges from different perspectives and strengthen cooperation across stakeholders. They include companies, universities and scientific institutions, regional agencies, the public sector and others. Membership in the working groups is open and members meet at least 3 times a year.
