The story of VÍTKOVICE STEEL began in 1828 in Ostrava and continues to this day. VÍTKOVICE STEEL is traditionally a major manufacturer of heavy plate, sheet metal and sheet piling in Europe. We see our mission as connecting society with quality products – our sheet metal makes bridges, for example, which are our great passion. Sheet piles are used for steel and bridge structures or as structures for water management and flood protection. We burn our billets on state-of-the-art equipment, which is also why they are often used for machine parts where a high level of precision is required. Quality control of products is carried out in our own accredited testing laboratories, which have state-of-the-art testing facilities.
Steel has an unlimited lifetime and is the most recyclable material in the world. But we go even further. We’re taking action to protect the planet and make the world greener. We also have transparent and fair conditions for business partners, suppliers and our employees.
VÍTKOVICE STEEL has long supported activities that contribute to improving the quality of life of the citizens of the Moravian-Silesian Region. Through the VÍTKOVICE STEEL Endowment Fund, we have been providing financial resources since 2006 to support families in difficult living situations, the development of educational projects and leisure activities for children and youth, and support for non-profit organizations and social services. Each year the Foundation redistributes CZK 2 million. The Foundation’s website: https://nadace.vitkovicesteel.com/. We have also supported benefit concerts organised by MADLEIN.
We also focus on supporting schools and educational institutions, both in the form of financial cooperation and by involving our experts in educational programmes, workshops and excursions that introduce students to the practice of our industry. We actively cooperate with VŠB-TUO, Ostrava University, ČVUT, Vítkovice Secondary Industrial School, etc. We offer apprenticeships and trainee programs.
Culture, sport and community life are also important areas of our support. We are regularly involved in the organisation and support of local cultural and sporting events that help to develop community coexistence and active leisure. We support the University hockey team BO Ostrava VÍTKOVICE STEEL. The amount of support is in the hundreds of thousands per year.
