Innovation in the MS Region: data report 2025 provides an up-to-date view of the development of the innovation environment in the Moravian-Silesian Region(MS Region). The publication is intended for anyone interested in regional development, entrepreneurship, research and development, education or innovation. It is based on the latest available data, mostly up to 2023, and maps the development in recent years.
The structure of the publication covers four thematic areas: innovation ecosystem; people; entrepreneurship and startups; business and innovation. Each chapter offers an overview of key indicators, trends over time, comparisons with selected regions and brief notes to help put the data in a broader context.
We use two reference groups for comparison: developed regions of the Czech Republic (e.g. Prague, South Moravian Region), which represent an ambition, and regions in transition (Ústí nad Karlovy Vary Region), with which we share a difficult starting position. This dual perspective allows for a more realistic assessment of the region’s position and planning for further development.
A new feature is a separate dataset that contains all the data used in the publication. It allows readers to work with the indicators themselves and to monitor developments over time:
