The Academic Day of the University of Ostrava is inseparably connected with the Rector’s Awards ceremony, but the programme also included a musical performance by the Symphony Orchestra of the Faculty of Arts of the OU or inspirational lectures by successful personalities of the University.
A celebration of academic life and its freedoms combined with a reminder of the importance of democratic values. This is the spirit of the annual Academic Day, which also includes the Rector’s Awards ceremony, and this year was no different.
The programme included a lecture by oncologist Martin Palička from the Faculty of Medicine of the OU, who last year was included in the list of 30 personalities under 30 years of age, which focused on his career to date and the activities he has engaged in beyond his studies and profession.
In the following lecture, Associate Professor Steriani Elavsky from the Faculty of Education of the OU, included by Forbes magazine among this year’s selection of the TOP female scientists in the Czech Republic, focused on the activities of the DigiWELL and REFRESH projects in which she is involved.
A cultural experience was brought by the musical performance of the Faculty of Arts Orchestra – the audience heard the tones of songs from the musical West Side Story or Evita.
