The idea of building educational premises in the form of a multifunctional centre supporting education, entrepreneurship and innovation was supported from the very beginning by the Statutory City of Karviná, which included the project as a partner in its main development plans (Karviná by all ten).

Importance for the region
The Silesian University in Opava and the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship in Karviná have the ambition to create a unique space and environment for supporting education, innovation and entrepreneurship. The construction of the CEPIS centre will create a base for supporting innovation and teaching attractive study programmes in relation to the needs, development and transformation of the MSK.
Connection with the successful Bussines Gate platform will deepen integration into the ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation support in Karviná and the whole MSK. The main expected benefits of the project for the region include fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, linking study and practice, increasing the skills of the workforce, creating a space for sharing and inspiration, attracting and retaining talent, increasing the number of students, increasing their readiness for the labour market, creating jobs and, last but not least, cultivating public space.
The project will create 3 new accredited training programmes (Digital Business, Innovative Entrepreneurship, Economics and Management) for up to 398 students with the aim of making studies more attractive and increasing the employability of graduates in the region.
- The building is designed to minimize operating energy costs and achieve an energy-plus balance. This goal is subordinated to the entire concept of the building (the use of mature greenery, the location in the water area, the roof pitch, the building envelope) and its technological solutions (heat pump, ground boreholes, photovoltaic system).
