Field

Energy

He works as the head of the Department of Energy Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, VŠB-TUO and as a researcher and guarantor of the research programme at the ENET Centre, CEET. His main research interests are thermal processes, alternative fuels and mathematical modelling of selected physical and chemical phenomena. At the University he supervises the Master’s degree programme Energy Machines and Equipment and the PhD degree programme Energy Processes.

He worked for four years at the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic. He cooperates with foreign universities such as Tohoku Univeristy, Japan, University of Zagreb, Croatia and University of Seville, Spain.

Research, activities and impact

He has been the principal investigator and co-investigator of dozens of scientific research projects supported mainly by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The projects were/are mainly focused on energy storage, combustion of unconventional fuels and numerical simulations of physical processes.

He publishes the results of his scientific activities in prestigious impacted journals and as co-author of a number of patents, utility models and other results of applied research. He has built several laboratories focused on energy process research, has been awarded several times by the university management for his scientific activities and cooperates with practice in the form of economic contracts.

Its activities aim to contribute to the development of the region in the field of sustainable energy, especially in terms of secondary raw materials and alternative energy sources. Recent examples include a successful project to research and develop a new type of storage hydroelectric power plant.
