The winner in the Moravian-Silesian Region and Volkswagen Company of the Year 2024 is VR LIFE, a company dedicated to the creation of applications for rehabilitation in virtual reality. Among the entrepreneurs, Oldřich Menšík with his organic family farm took the title MONETA Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 of the Moravian-Silesian Region.

“We are a family organic farm in the Beskydy Mountains. We deal with cow breeding and milk production. We process part of the milk produced in our own mini-dairy into yoghurt, cottage cheese, cheese and other products,” says the winning entrepreneur Oldřich Menšík. He also provides services in agro-tourism, offering accommodation in a spacious apartment. The farm was established in 1992 when his parents took over part of a failing JZD and decided to renew the family tradition. They started with a dozen cows and went into debt to acquire the most important machinery and land. From the beginning, the farm focused on cow breeding and milk production. Gradually the farm expanded to about 70 dairy cows and about the same number of calves and heifers. Today they farm 150 hectares of land. One important step was the conversion to organic farming in 2010. He sells his products through yard sales. The success of the business idea is evidenced by a full booking calendar, loyal and satisfied customers, and other farmers who come for inspiration. He has been working with and supplying products to several restaurants in the area for a long time.

“It represents a connection with tradition, localism and the use of innovative technology. His farm impressed the whole jury and Mr Menšík deservedly won,” Martin Petrek from MONETA Money Bank evaluated the winner on behalf of the jury.

The silver medal went to Linda Dedeciusová, who produces hand-sewn shoes. Bronze goes to Kateřina Kolářová, who produces textile accessories for insulin pumps.

VR LIFE creates applications for rehabilitation in virtual reality. It helps patients in hospitals and clients in social care homes. It makes rehabilitation faster and more efficient and more fun. With the app, patients in various departments such as rehabilitation, neurology, ARO, ICU, LDN, psychiatry, oncology or neurosurgery are rehabilitated. “In the beginning, we created a module for the clients of the Paraple Centre at the request of physiotherapy students, hoping that it could help them with spastic pain. We were very pleasantly surprised by the response and motivated to create more modules,” says Jana Trdá, CEO of the winning company. Gradually, not only hospitals, but also nursing homes, small practices, and even companies that wanted to work with the health of their employees in a preventive way showed interest in the product. Currently, the company is already going global, selling in Poland, the Baltics and Slovakia. The company considers trust, reliability and patience to be the most important in business. He considers the recognition from the professional public as the biggest success.

“I wish the winner to take the digital technology of the future to as many countries as possible in this way, to help all groups in need. It is a crucial help for people who have been left at home or in hospitals after an injury, or for people in homes for the elderly,” commented Dusan Klimek from Volkswagen on the jury’s choice.

Second place goes to HSF System, the general contractor for the buildings. Third place went to Wrap Up, a manufacturer of functional pastry bags and other kitchen products.

The winner of the accompanying MONETA Tradesman of the Year category was also announced. A heartthrob is a person who literally lives for what they do and leaves a piece of their heart in it. Oldřich Menšík, a farmer in Ostrava, also received this award.

The winners of the regional round also become national finalists. The ceremony to announce the national results of the Volkswagen Company of the Year 2024 and MONETA Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 competitions will take place on 11 December at Žofín in Prague.

“I see the contribution of the Company and the Entrepreneur of the Year primarily in creating opportunities for meeting and sharing the experiences of inspiring people, representatives of companies small and large from different business fields, with different stories. The VINCI Construction CS Group creates a better place not only for life but also for business with its projects. It builds roads, highways, railways, bridges and waterworks or industrial buildings, apartments and recreational and sports zones. We are placing an increasing emphasis on environmental care in our projects, which is why we have partnered for the first time this year with the new competition category Sustainable Business of the Year. We want to highlight the ideas and solutions of tradesmen and companies that, by adopting the principles of sustainability and the use of modern technologies, promote new business opportunities and, most importantly, contribute to a better environment, says Iveta Štočková, spokeswoman for the VINCI Construction CS Group.
